Ralf Lauruschkat played on the West German hockey (field) team at the 1976 Montréal Summer Games that won its match for fifth place, 9-1, against Spain. The same year he helped West Germany win the European Indoor title. Domestically, he played with Rot-Weiß Köln, helping them to win West German titles in 1972-74, and indoor titles in 1974 and 1978.
