Between 1973 and 1980 Ludwiczak played in 51 International Games for West Germany. Furthermore he won the Bronze Medal at the World Championships 1973 and 1975. He also was a member of the German Team that won the European Indoor Championships in 1976 and 1980. At the 1976 Montréal Olympics the team placed with after winning 9-1 against Spain. Domestically, he played with Rot-Weiß Köln, helping them to win the West German national titles from 1972-74, and the indoor titles in 1974 and 1978.
