Biography

Noor Alam made the Pakistan hockey squad in 1956, and played his first international match at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne. He would go on to win 42 caps, scoring 8 times. In the six year period he played internationally, Pakistan was most successful, winning the Asian Games title in 1958 and 1962, and beating India for the first time in an Olympic hockey final in 1960. In that match, Alam gave the assist to Ahmed Naseer Bunda, who scored Pakistan’s first ever goal against India. A right winger, Alam played for the police and army clubs in national competition play.
