Biography

Katie Kauffman played college hockey (field) at the University of Maryland, helping them win the 1993 NCAA Championships. She was a two-time All-American in college. Kauffman played for the US National team from 1995-2004, earning 180 caps. In addition to her 1996 Olympic appearance she won silver medals at the 1999 and 2003 Pan American Games. She also won silvers at the 2001 and 2004 Pan America Cup, and added a bronze at the 1995 Champions Trophy.

In 2004 Kauffman, by then Katie Kauffman-Beach, became head coach at Columbia University, serving there through 2008. In 2009 she and her family moved to Chicago where she became the director and co-owner of Windy City Field Hockey. Kauffman-Beach is a member of the Wilson High School, University of Maryland, and Berks County Chapter of Pennsylvania Sports Halls of Fame. In 2014 she was inducted into the US Field Hockey Hall of Fame.
