Biography

Helena Dow was Amateur Fencers League of America (AFLA) champion with the foil in 1940, 1943, and 1947-48, winning in 1940 and 1943 under her maiden name, Mroczkowska. She was also women’s intercollegiate champion in 1939 while fencing at Hofstra University. Her husband, Warren Dow, fenced at the 1936 Olympics, while their son, Robert Dow, was on the 1972 US Olympic fencing team. Helena Dow later coached fencing at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 1968-71.
