Biography

Austrian fencer Fritz Flesch finished second in the national sabre championship in 1899. The following year he won four of his seven matches in the final pool to finish in third place for the bronze medal at the 1900 Paris Olympics, also in the individual sabre event. He was the first Jew to win an Olympic fencing medal. At London in 1908, he was eliminated in the second round and was ranked 24th overall.
