Biography

Arthur Fagan was educated at Winchester College before going to New College, Oxford in 1909. He became a member of the University Fencing Club, and competed in the British Amateur Foil Championship in his first year. Fagan reached the semi-final in 1912 and that year competed at the Stockholm Olympics. In both 1912 and 1913 he took part in the foil event in the annual match against Cambridge. Fagan was a member of the London Fencing Club and was still competing for them in the latter part of the 1930s.

Fagan was an Indian Civil Servant, working in the Foreign and Political Department, and during World War I was a reserve in the infantry branch of the Indian Army. He was later the director of a tea companies in India. Fagan also saw service in the World War II, but this time as a squadron leader in the Royal Air Force (RAF)
