Robin Jeffreys was one of the first entrants into the Osborne Royal Naval College on the Isle of Wight in 1903, and it was during his time there that he enjoyed an early fencing success, coming third in a sabre competition at the Royal Navy and Military tournament in 1905. He was admitted into the Navy in 1909, and during World War I served on _HMS Cornwall _ as a signals ad wireless operator. In 1918 he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and a medal for valour. He went on the retired list in 1937 but was recalled to the Navy during Wold War II when he was further decorated with the Legion of Honour. In 1946 Jeffreys was appointed the naval attaché in the Netherlands and was subsequently decorated by Prince Bernhard with the Order of the Orange Nassau.
Jeffreys never won a British fencing title but reached the final pool of the 1928 Sabre Championship and then went to Amsterdam as a member of the British team at the Olympics. He represented the Royal Navy many times in competitive matches and also once competed against the Navy as a member of the Sabre Club. Jeffreys retired in 1951, and served as a member on the Kent County Council.
