Biography

German fencer Adolf Davids competed in individual foil at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals. One year later he won the Academic Championships in foil and sabre in Leipzig. Davids was educated as a businessman and later became CEO of Hannoversche Gummiwerke Excelsior.

In his youth Davids took part in cycling races and was 1886 German road race champion as well as European Champion in 1886 and 1887. He ended his cycling career in 1897. In his later years he dedicated himself to mountaineering.
