Biography

German fencer August Heim was German foil champion in 1930, 1932 and 1937, and German sabre champion in 1933-35 and 1938. At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics he was eliminated in the first round of team foil. In 1936, he returned to the Olympics in Berlin, winning two bronze medals both with the foil and sabre teams. Individually Heim was eliminated in the second round of the foil and sabre. In 1931, 1935 and 1937 Heim won another three bronzes in team sabre at the Unofficial Fencing Worlds. After World War II he became a coach at his homeclub of Offenbacher FC.
