Biography

German fencer Hermann Plaskuda competed at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, but was eliminated in the first round of individual épée. He qualified for the semi-finals with both the German épée and sabre team, but neither qualified for the finals. In 1913 Plaskuda was German sabre champion. Plaskuda was killed-in-action in World War I. His grave is located in the war cemetery in St. Quentin, France. He died on the first day of the German Spring Offensive in 1918, when 500,000 soldiers were killed on both sides within 15 days.
