Biography

In addition to his gold medal and three silver medals from the Olympics, Saverio Ragno won 14 medals at the World Championships over a period of 20 years\: gold in 1930, 1931, 1933, and 1950 in team foil, and 1931, 1933, and 1937 in team épée; silver in 1930 and 1934 in team épée, in 1933 in individual épée and 1947 with team foil; and bronze in 1935 in individual épée, as well as 1938 and 1947 with the team épée. Ragno also won five Italian Championship titles with the épée. He was the father of 1972 gold medalist Antonella Ragno-Lonzi.
