Biography

Leonid Saar was on the Estonian basketball team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics but did not play in any games. He graduated from the Tallinn Boys’ Commercial Anthem in 1932 and studied at the UT Faculty of Law in 1934-43. Saar started out as a football player and then played ice hockey. Saar was Estonian Champion in 1935 with the YMCA team. He was capped eight times in ice hockey, and twice in football and basketball. Saar emigrated to Sweden in 1944, but left for Canada in 1951, and eventually settled in the United States.
