Biography

Otakar Švorčík earned his first medal with the sabre in 1913 winning bronze at the championships of the lands of the Bohemian Crown (Bohemia plus Moravia and Austrian Silesia). After World War I he became a six-times Czechoslovakian champion in sabre (1920-21, 1923-25, 1927). In 1919, he was also part of the Czechoslovakian fencing team (épée and sabre) at the Inter-Allied Games in Paris in the rank of lieutenant. Švorčík was a three-time Olympian participating in 1912, 1920 and 1924 with épée and sabre. His best results were fourth places with the sabre team in Stockholm and Paris.
