A reserve to in the featherweight freestyle wrestling category at the 1952 Olympics, F. Kennedy was a member of the Manchester YMCA wrestling club. He won consideration for the Helsinki Games after finishing second in the northern counties’ championship the previous year. The man who beat him in that final was Bolton’s Herbie Hall, who was first choice at the Olympics.
