Biography

Sayed Houda played football with the Al Ittihad Alexandria Club and won the Egypt Cup with that team in 1926. Two years earlier, he had attended the 1924 Paris Olympics with the Egyptian national squad, which was eliminated in the quarterfinals. He was also with the team when it lasted to the bronze medal match at the 1928 edition in Amsterdam, ultimately losing to Italy. He retired from active competition in the 1930s and later took up coaching, although he also had the distinction of being the first Egyptian footballer to appear in a movie when he had a small part in the 1937 comedy film “Al-Riady” (The Sportsman). His younger brother, Mahmoud, was also a footballer with Ittihad and took part in the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Games as well.
