Biography

Carlos Vaca was a Mexican archer. Vaca won three gold medals and a bronze at Mexico’s national Olympiad, earning him a place at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. At the Youth Games he finished in fifth place in the individual event and fifth place in the mixed team event where he was paired with Kang Jin-Hwa of North Korea.

After the Youth Olympics Vaca won bronze at the 2019 World Youth Championships, gold and silver at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games, and gold at the 2022 Pan American Championships. In 2022 World Archery Americas named him as the under-21 recurve archer of the year. Vaca died in March 2023 after jumping from the ninth floor of a building in Juriquilla in Santiago de Querétaro. He was 20.
