Biography

Catarina Lindqvist was a Swedish tennis player who played professionally from 1983 to 1992. Lindqvist achieved a career-best singles ranking of 10 in the world in April 1985, and a doubles ranking of 29 in the world in April 1988.

Lindqvist won her first ITF singles title in January 1983 in Chicago with victory against compatriot Elisabeth Ekblom. Her first WTA singles title came a year later at the Virginia Slims of Pennsylvania tournament when she beat Beth Herr in straight sets. At Grand Slams she reached the singles semi-finals at the 1987 Australian Open and the 1989 Wimbledon tournament, losing each time to Martina Navratilova. Lindqvist competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, reaching the third round in the singles at the 1988 Games.
