Biography

Annie Broadbent gained selection for the 1928 Olympics based on results that year in which she won the Yorkshire individual title, and finished second to Carrie Pickles in the Northern Counties Championship. Broadbent took her annual holiday from her job at Ramsdens Brewery in Halifax to go to the Amsterdam Games. In 1929 she was a member of the Halifax RES (Recreative Evening School) Gymnasts Club that won the first of three consecutive national team titles. Broadbent won her only individual national title in 1930.
