Biography

Vanja Blomberg won her only national title in 1950, in the individual all-around, and went on to represent Sweden at that year’s World Championships, where she took gold in the team all-around. Her next stop was the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where she won another gold medal, this time in the team portable apparatus, and just missed the podium in the team all-around when Sweden placed fourth. Individually, her best finish came in the floor exercise, where she was joint-31st with Germany’s Lydia Zeitlhofer. Blomberg later turned to coaching and attended her second edition of the Olympics in this capacity, joining Sweden’s delegation to the 1956 Melbourne Games.
