Biography

Gyula Kakas was a member of MTK Budapest between 1893 and 1896 and as was common in that era, competed in several sports. He was most successful in gymnastics, representing Hungary at the 1896, 1900 and 1906 Olympics. At the 1896 Olympics he competed in four disciplines (horse vault, pommelled horse, horizontal bar, parallel bars), while in 1900 and in 1906 he took part in in the all-around.

In 1896 Kakas set unofficial Hungarian records in pole vault with 2.70 and 2.80 metres. In 1902 he played one match for the BTC football team and was a member of the national championship-winning team.
