Biography

Jean Josselin boxed as a welterweight at the 1960 Roma Olympics. He turned professional after the Olympics, winning his first 19 bouts as a pro. On 25 April 1966 Josselin defeated Brian Curvis to win the European welterweight crown. Mostly fighting in France during his career, in November 1966 Josselin went to Dallas, Texas, USA to fight Curtis Cokes for the combined WBA/WBC welterweight crown but lost a unanimous decision.

In 1967-68 Josselin lost his European title to Carmello Bossi, and also lost a re-match. However, he regained the European title in May 1969 by defeating Silvano Bertini but lost the crown in September 1969 after losing to Johann Orsolics. Josselin’s last fight was a knockout by Jan Kies in March 1972. Sadly, his last 13 bouts saw him win only one fight, with eight losses and four draws. His career record was 66 wins (41 by KO), 16 losses (4 by KO), and 7 draws.
