Biography

Curt Rottman was born in Dresden, Germany but came to the United States as a boy. He represented the New York Turners in gymnastics. Rottman won AAU titles on the horizontal bar, his specialty, in 1920-23 and 1925, floor in 1921, parallel bars in 1921, and vault in 1921 and 1923. In 1924 he was 38-years-old at the Paris Olympics, the oldest gymnast in the competition and he remains the oldest gymnast to have competed for the United States at the Olympics through 2012. Rottman was inducted into the US Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1960.
