Biography

Hans-Georg Jaunich was on the gold medal winning East German team at the 1980 Moskva Olympics, winning the final after a 23-22 overtime victory against the Soviet Union. He played 16 international matches with the GDR national team and scored 16 goals.

Domestically, Jaunich played with SC Empor Rostock and helped them win the 1973 and 1978 East German Championships. He became a graduated sports teacher and handball coach by profession. He first worked with his home club and then with SV Post Schwerin, where he was also a sports teacher at the sports gymnasium.
