Biography

Romanian-born right-wing handball player Emilia Luca came sixth with the German team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She won 85 Romanian international caps and a further 56 with Germany. In 1995, she was able to emigrate to Germany as she had a German grand-grandfather.

At club level, Luca played in Romania with HC Știința Bacău and won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1989. In Germany she played with TV Lützellinden, TV Mainzlar and TSG Leihgestern, helping Mainzlar win the German Cup in 2001.
