Biography

Narinder Singh competed as a judoka at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. He later worked as police superintendent in Punjab. In 2013 Singh was suspended from that position after he was suspected of a murder attempt in Delhi. After Singh had been posted to Delhi’s Punjab Bhawan in October 2013 he shot at a youth over a minor issue. After the suspension Singh became very depressed when he was not reinstated, and in February 2016 committed suicide by hanging at his residence at Jalandhar’s Punjab Armed Police complex. His body was found by his wife Sunith Thakur.
