Biography

John Fitzgerald competed at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics, and was named to the 1980 US Olympic team, making him the first American to qualify for three Olympic teams in modern pentathlon. Fitzgerald was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas during his Olympic appearances in 1972 and 1976. He graduated from Villanova University in 1970 with a degree in business administration. Fitzgerald was a star swimmer at Villanova, making All-American. He later became the Executive Director for the USA Modern Pentathlon. After leaving that post he worked as a residential appraiser in San Antonio.
