Biography

As a member of the 17th Middlesex School of Arms (Rifles), Wally Webb won the 1905 ABA bantamweight title before losing it to Tom Ringer the following year. He joined the newly formed St. Pancras Amateur Boxing Club after its opening in October 1906. At the London Olympics, Webb won the bantamweight bronze medal, after losing to Johnny Condon in the semi-final. Webb regained his ABA title in 1910, and during World War I served in the Army during which time, at Aldershot Barracks in 1914, he had his only professional bout, losing a bantamweight contest to the vastly experienced Joe Durham on points.
