Biography

Werner Ruzicka was eliminated in the first round of the featherweight division at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. In 1967-68 and 1970, he was the West German featherweight champion. As a solder within the German Bundeswehr, Ruzicka twice won Military World Championship titles, in 1964 and 1969

After training in Wiesbaden, Göttingen and Hanover at the Federal Criminal Police Office, Ruzicka passed the examination as Commissioner in 1974, and worked at the institution from 1974-78. He then served as escort officer of the Federal Interior Minister from 1978-80, before joining the district government of Hanover, and then taking over leadership of the Criminal and Criminal Police Investigation Service in Burgwedel. Ruzicka’s brother Willi was also a successful international boxer.
