Biography

Thomas Monk missed out when the Weybridge boat was beaten by Thames RC in the Olympic trial to see who should represent Great Britain in the eights at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He was, however, selected as a member of the Weybridge crew that competed in the coxed fours. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in their opening heat, and beaten again in the first round of the repêchage.

Monk was a London police officer and spent more than 20 years in the fingerprint department. He subsequenty moved to Castle Cary, Somerset, in the late-1950s and worked in a nearby aerospace manufacturing company in Yeovil.
