Jens Doberschütz rowed on the gold medal-winning East German eights at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. He started his rowing career in the coxed fours and won the East German national title in 1979, and also a gold medal at the World Championships the same year. In 1981 he added a bronze with the coxless fours, and in 1982 a silver with the eights.
