Biography

Bernd Höing rowed on the gold medal-winning East German eights at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. He also won the eights at the 1978 and 1979 World Championships. In 1981 the crew came fourth at the Worlds, and in 1982 and 1983 won silver medals on each occasion.

During the time of GDR, he worked with the Deutsche Volkspolizei and after re-unification turned to gastronomy. He trained as a waiter in his youth, and later opened restaurants in Berlin.
