Biography

Giuseppe Moioli worked for the motorcycle manufacturer Moto Guzzi in Mandello del Lario where he joined the company’s rowing team alongside fellow Olympian Franco Faggi. Moioli had an impressive international record. He won the coxless fours world title at Lucerne in 1947, the Olympic gold medal in 1948 and the European title in 1949-50, 1954, and 1956. He also won a gold medal in the eights at the 1958 Europeans. Moioli participated in three Olympics from 1948-56, and was a substitute for the coxless fours and eights in 1960.

After his competitive career, Moioli remained at Moto Guzzi, where he held the position of rowing coach for many years. Under his leadership, some top rowers were developed, including Piero Poli, Carlo Mornati, Carlo Gaddi, Franco Zucchi, and Niccolò Mornati. Moioli was awarded the Gold Medal of the Italian Olympic Committee for his athletic values.
