Biography

Carlo Mornati competed at four consecutive Olympic Games from 1996-2008. His best result was in 2000 when Mornati, Lorenzo Carboncini, Riccardo Dei Rossi and Valter Molea finished just 38 hundredths of second behind the Great Britain gold-medal winning crew, led by Steven Redgrave. Mornati won eight coxless fours medals at the World Championships, including gold at Indianapolis in 1994, and Tampere the following year.

Mornati graduated in law in International Studies, and obtained his masters at the University in Sydney (1998) and in Law and Sport Economy at Roma (2007). From 2005-09 he was member of the Committee of the Italian Olympic Center. Mornati was Italy’s Head of Delegation at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and on 18 March 2018 was elected Secretary-General of the Italian Olympic Committee.
