Biography

Jonathan Smith rowed at Brown University. He competed at three Olympic Games, winning a silver medal in the eights in 1984 and a bronze in 1988. Smith was a gold medalist in the eights at the 1987 World Championships and the 1983 Pan American Games. He won two other bronze medals in eights at the 1985-86 Worlds. He also rowed at the 1986 and 1990 Goodwill Games, winning a silver medal in coxed fours in 1986. Smith was USA Rowing male athlete of the year.
