Biography

Gábor Balla had a short shooting career for Hungary. After the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, he defected to the United States. He later became a US citizen and joined the US Air Force where he competed for their shooting team, living in San Antonio, and became an official at many modern pentathlon events. He later moved to both Sicily, Aviano (Italy), and Germany where he taught for the US Department of Defense in dependents’ schools. On his return to the United States Ballo became a lecturer in the business school at the University of Maryland.
