Biography

Enrico Rabbachin was an Italian sports shooter, and one of the few athletes from the city of Vigevano to have represented Italy at the Olympic Games.

Born in 1943, Rabbachin was part of the Italian team at the boycotted 1980 Moskva (Moscow) Olympics, and he achieved an honorable 11th place in the 50-meter free pistol event with 558 points out of 600. The competition was won by Russia´s Aleksandr Melentyev with a world record 581 points that stood until 2024.

Rabbachin was the Italian free pistol champion six times. It was in the same event at Roma in 1960 that another Vigevano native, Piercarlo Beroldi, competed at the Olympics.

In his sporting career, Rabbachin participated in three editions of both the World Championships and European Championships, but the highlight of his career was appearing at the Olympics, albeit a somewhat depleted one.

After his competitive career, Rabbachin dedicated himself for many years to teaching at the Vigevano section of the National Shooting Club. Married with two children, he passed away at the end of December 2024 at 81 years-of-age.
