Erik Odelberg was the son of the county governor and later Minister of Agriculture Albrecht Theodor Odelberg (1847–1938). After his military service with the Svea Life Guards, he graduated in law in 1913. Three years later, he became representative of Norrlandsbanken, and in 1928 deputy director of the Svenska Handelsbanken. From 1930 to 1933 Odelberg was CEO of Södermanland’s Private Bank and subsequently head of the Stockholm branch of Östergötland’s Private Bank.
Odelberg placed 11th in one of his two small-bore rifle events at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912. With his wife Greta Werner he had one son who followed his father as lawyer and bank director.
