Biography

Jan Poignant was a Swedish sports shooter who represented Skarps SSK in Stockholm. Poignant was a four-time national champion, winning two titles in the 50 metres rifle (1963, 1965), and two in the 50 metres prone (1963, 1964). In 1962 he won gold at the World Shooting Championships in the 50 metres small-bore rifle prone team event. Two years later Poignant competed in three events at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics with a best finish of 12th in the 300 metres free rifle, three positions.
