Born in Queensland, Australian swimmer Shane Lewis competed in the breaststroke during his career. Lewis swam in the 100 metres breaststroke at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where he finished in seventh place in his heat and 28th place overall. The following year at the Australian Swimming Championships in Perth he won silver in the 50 and 100 metres breaststroke, finishing behind Phil Rogers in both races. Lewis finished in sixth place the final of the 100 metres breaststroke at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, British Colombia.
