Biography

The daughter of Alexander von Kropiwnicki and Irma Rentz, Eli von Kropiwnicki first became active in swimming with the Danubia club in Wien (Vienna) around 1932. Specializing in freestyle swimming events, she also was briefly a member of a club in Klosterneuburg before joining the 1. Wiener Amateur Schwimmclub (1.W.A.S.C.).

In 1936, she was selected along with her clubmate Roma Wagner to join Franziska Mally of Wien and Grete Ittlinger of Innsbruck to form the Austrian 4 × 100 metres freestyle relay team and compete in the Olympic Games held in Berlin. There, the quartet finished last in their preliminary heat and did not advance in the competition. von Kropiwnicki retired from active competition by 1937.

She later married Friedrich Hrushcka and had one daughter. Her name appears on a list of citizens who went missing during the course of World War II; she was last living in Oberösterreich (Upper Austria).
