After the 1932 Olympics, Manuel Ponce settled in Los Angeles and had a short career as a professional boxer. He started his pro career with a bout against Roy Johnson in March 1933, which ended in a draw. He fought through June 1935, ending up with a desultory career record of 10 wins (3 by KO), 12 losses, and 5 draws. His last bout was on 21 June 1935 against Jimmy Wakefield in Hollywood, which ended in a draw. Ponce died of a ruptured appendix shortly after this fight.
