Biography

Mietta Strumolo was one of only two Italian female swimmers to compete at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, along with Novella Calligaris, due to controversies within the Italian Swimming Federation. The highlight of her international career was winning the 100m freestyle 1967 Mediterranean Games. She also competed in the late 1960s against Germany; a quadrangular in Siracusa with France, Spain and Romania; and in the 1968 and 1969 Six Nations meets.
