Biography

Jerzy Boniecki was a Polish swimmer from Łódź who competed at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He represented various Łódź clubs, as follows: YMCA (1945), Filmmaker (1945-49), Zrywu Union (1950-51), Ogniwa (1951-52), and GWKS Orła (1953-55). Boniecki won 13 Polish titles, seven in long course in the 100 metre backstroke (1950, 1952), 200 backstroke (1950-52), and 400 backstroke (1950, 1952); and six at short-course backstroke – 100 (1951-53), 200 (1951, 1953), and 400 (1952). He won 27 medals at the Polish Championships, with 13 silvers and 1 bronze added to his 13 golds. Boniecki also set eight Polish records.
