Biography

Bill Farley attended the University of Michigan where he was a 10-time All-American swimmer for the Wolverines. Farley graduated in 1967 and then earned a masters’ degree from Eastern Michigan University in education. He became a swim coach, starting at Princeton in 1971, and returning to his alma mater in 1979. He coached Michigan for two years before leaving to go into various business ventures.

Farley served as Aquatics and Gymnastics Director in the International School of Manila, in the Philippines, and then from 1984 to 1989, acted as president of the Philippine International Association. From 1989-94 he served as Recreation Director of the Tokyo American Club in Japan. Farley then moved to Hawai’i where he owned and operated Old Hanalei Coffee Company and Shave Ice Paradise. In 1999 Farley returned to swim coaching, first at Punahou Aquatics in Honolulu, from 1999-2002, and then at Fairfield University.
