Biography

Al Greene, of the Lake Shore AC in Detroit, began the 1936 Olympic season on a high note by defeating Dick Degener and Marshall Wayne in April to take the AAU title indoor off the 1-metre springboard. In June he finished second to Dick Degener in the AAU outdoor 3-metre springboard event and at the Final Trials he was again runner-up to Degener in the springboard with Marshall Wayne finishing in third place. At the Olympics, Dick Degener took the gold medal but Marshall Wayne reversed the result of the trials by edging Greene for the silver medal.
