Biography

Eugene Rogers swam in the heats of the 4x200 freestyle relay at the 1948 London Olympics. He placed sixth in the 200 freestyle at the 1948 Olympic Trials. Rogers swam for Columbia University, winning 20 of 21 races in the 1942/43 season, including titles in the 220 and 440 yd freestyles at the Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming League. At the 1943 NCAA Meet he finished third in both the 220 and 440. He was undefeated in his final two years at Columbia in dual meets, winning 36 of 36 races. He also won the NCAA title in the 220 freestyle in both 1944 and 1945, and was runner-up in 1944 in the 440. Rogers represented the New York Athletic Club after college. He was 1945 AAU indoor champion in the 220 yards. Rogers was later an engineer.
