Biography

Dan Zehr swam the 100 backstroke at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, as a 16-year-old high school student. He swam for the Fort Wayne YMCA in 1932. Zehr later attended Northwestern University, where he was named All-American in 1936, after winning the 1936 NCAA title in the 150 yard backstroke. Zehr was 1933 AAU Champion in the 220 yard backstroke both indoors and out. In 1984 he became a charter member of the Northwestern University Athletic Hall of Fame.
