Biography

At the 1972 München Olympics the East German volleyball team, including Wolfgang Löwe, only lost to Japan 3-1 in the final and won the silver medal. At the 1974 Mexico Worlds the team finished fourth, and at the 1975 Europeans at Yugoslavia East Germany placed seventh.

Domestically, Löwe played with SC Leipzig. He helped them to win East German titles from 1972-76. Until re-unification he worked as an instructor for sports and culture with VEB Baukombinat Leipzig. In the early 1990s he survived a severe car accident and became disabled.
