Biography

Michele Pasinato, a spiker, was among the most important Italian volleyball players of the 1990s. Known affectionately as “Paso”, as of 2021 he remains the record holder for points scored in the regular season of the Italian First League, with 7,031 points in 280 games. Counting playoffs he scored 7,439 points in 297 games, second only to Andrea Zorzi in points per game.

Pasinato earned 256 caps, participating at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the 1998 World Championships at Tokyo (gold medal), and winning two European gold medals, at Turku in 1993 and Athina in 1995. He also played for World League champions six times between 1990 and 1997. After retiring in 2006, Pasinato started coaching the Padova’s youth teams where his sons Edoardo and Giorgio also played.
